When I spend quiet time with my Father I usually go through this routine. This particular concept came from Edwina Patterson (Redeeming the Time) and her “Listening For His Voice Daily Prayer Journal” that I use.  It’s great to record your prayers and go back and record when God answers.  What I particularly like about this journal is that there is a section where you are prompted to ask the questions “Why should God answer?  Is it selfish or God-honoring?”  If I am asking with the wrong motives I reevaluate my requests and reword them.  There is also a column where I list the daily devotional reading and jot down one or two words about what God spoke to my heart.
